We are a research oriented team and are open to collaborate with like minded organisations and individuals to find solutions to urban problems, presently, focusing on areas like sustainable urban transport, road safety and livable streets.
"If you plan cities for cars and traffic, you get cars and traffic. If you plan for people and places, you get people and places."
To contribute towards making our cities greener, safer, more livable, healthier, cleaner, sustainable and equitable by promoting sustainable modes of transport.
We look towards a future where our cities are clean and green. We envision our urban spaces and modes of transport to be safe and equitably accessible to all sections of society. We look forward to incorporating people centric and sustainable models in all aspects of urban planning and development. We visualise a positive future for our cities.
Meet The Founding Team
In 2013, Ashik had conceptualized The Green Lane Campaign to revive the cycling culture in Urban India and to make our cities more Livable, Healthier and Cleaner by using more sustainable modes of travel and transport such as Walking, Cycling and Public Transport. In 2014, he had embarked on a solo cycling expedition accross India to promote the campaign.
The idea to take this further, came up during the first Indian Bicycle Mayor Summit at Bengaluru in October 2019, when the three of us - Pooja, Ashik and Arshel, met each other in person for the first time. As Bicycle Mayors of our respective cities we have been working to promote sustainable urban mobility, mainly cycling, in our respective cities since the last few years.
Our common interest and our passion to promote people centric green urban spaces, road safety and sustainable modes of urban transportation brought us together to form The Green Lane Foundation.
